Synopsis
Sequel to a Verdict
Published by Dramatists Play Service
3 Female
We meet all the principal characters involved, and all make their contributions to the mosaic of the play's action. From the outset the State's Attorney is convinced that the accused, Otto Grossmeir, is guilty, and is determined to convict him and demand the maximum penalty
He builds a tight, convincing case, but the defense shrewdly, calmly and logically endeavors to prove that it would have been impossible for Otto to have committed the crime. The play builds from one scene to the next, sustaining taut suspense and raising problems which reach out far beyond the context of the trial itself
The climax, when it comes, is both electrifying and challenging and certain to linger in the mind long after the final curtain has fallen
A vital, timely and absorbing courtroom drama, in which the fate of an accused murderer is entrusted to a jury torn by "reasonable doubt"
