Geraldine and her young lover Doug are re-arranging the living-room to look more kitsch and suitable for the visit of her daughter, Sidney
Geraldine is certain that Sidney's father has convinced their daughter that she is sexually promiscuous
However, no-one in this play is entirely truthful and when Sidney arrives, she brings with her Alex and purports to be being a Cockney living in a squat - whereas she is actually living in luxury in Kensington
And Alex is really a former lover of Geraldine, while Doug seems to alternate between being a boxer and a plumber
