Synopsis

Goat Willow Wood

Joe Rogers

Published by Cyberpress

2 Male 4 Female

Sarah, aged 9, in Goat Willow Wood accidentally finds a small amount of gold, then happens upon a distraught Fairy, who has lost, his crock of gold

Sarah comforts him and tells him she has found it, but he tells her it's only part and promises 3 wishes if she can find the rest

She runs home to tell her Mum, but a worried Mum forbids her to go back, saying, “Sarah, my child, your whole story’s wild and can only all end in tears

Witches! And fairies! And crocks of gold!

I’ve not heard the like in years! I’m telling you not to go to that wood and remember I will be obeyed — your welfare is so important to me and of witches I know you're afraid

But Sarah, her mind set on getting the 3 wishes, and helped by her brother, Benji, shows how a mixture of unsophisticated cunning, ingenuity and inventiveness, staged by resourceful children can overcome a parent's directive when acted out with innocent childish persuasion incapable of deception
