Synopsis

Cave of the Dragon's Teeth

Deborah Craig

Published by Cyberpress

The year is 700 AD in Northumbria and the Viking invasions have begun

Both Pictish and Saxon coastal villages have been decimated

A few surviving members, each from Pictish and Saxon villages, meet by accident at a hiding place of caves and cliffs

Though they have hated one another for generations, the two tribes learn to live with one another in the caverns as they wait for the Viking ships, anchored in the river below, to depart

The hatreds begin to melt away, and Lllanbryd, the leader of the Picts, begins a friendship and challenge of wits with the Saxon prince's daughter, Rhedyn

Then, they discover that their hiding place has been revealed, and that a party of four Norsemen have been sent to the caverns to complete their slaughter

Do they leave, or, knowing that the Norsemen will not expect it, do they all stay and fight?

They determine to surprise and ambush the Norsemen, and are successful in their plan

The two tribes realize they must all leave immediately, as the rest of the Norsemen's camp will probably search for the party of four when they do not return

The Pictish capital of Scone is but a day's walk through a deep forest where they can journey through without being detected

Lllanbryd asks Rheyden and her people to go with them to Scone

They accept

Later, the Picts and Saxons forge together as one people to form later, what became in history, the Scots
