Mary, a servant girl, is fortuitously on hand in Brackenridge village, Yorkshire, in time to save Lord Michael, Earl of Brackenridge and a widower, from being run over by an automobile

Seemingly unaware of her station, the Earl invites Mary to afternoon tea

She now dreams of a future as Lady Mary, mistress of Brackenridge Manor

Will she succeed?
